Shavuot Gathering Draws 600 Young Adults to Worship Yeshua

It’s been a long time coming, but finally we were able to host another nationwide event for young adults where we could celebrate and worship Yeshua together!

We have held these events on Independence Day in the past, but they have been cancelled due to the ongoing war, and also a huge forest fire last year. So it was a great joy to finally meet up again.

It is traditional at Shavuot (the Feast of Weeks) to study the Torah all through the night, since it is the time of year when we celebrate the giving of the Law at Sinai. Shavuot is a very fun feast, full of rejoicing and with the idea of “first fruits” being central. For those who love Yeshua, it is also the time of the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost: a great and exciting time.

One of the main organizers from our team said,

“It was clear to see that the large number of young adults who came from all over the country were thirsty for such a gathering. We’re so happy that everyone was blessed with an evening of praise, learning, fellowship and dancing together!”

A wonderful time of praise and worship was led by some of Israel’s best loved worship bands, followed by a message from Dr. Erez Soref about how God speaks to us in different seasons of life, by looking at the example of Elijah the prophet. Paying attention to God’s word to us results in a closer walk with Him, and helps us to become more and more like our Messiah.

There were stalls where those who make all kinds of art and produce could share their wares, including a stall for our Bible college, encouraging people to consider coming to study the word of God and receive training for a season. We have a one year course called “Bikurim” which means “First fruits,” created especially for younger or newer Jewish and Arab Israeli believers. The course is designed to help them get well established in their faith, to ground them in their identity as Jewish and Arab believers living in communities that reject their beliefs, and to equip them with the tools they need to study the Bible deeply for themselves.

Another highlight was the traditional folk dancing at the end of the evening which was enjoyed by everyone! It’s great to get together again, and we had young adults coming from all corners of the country.

Praise God for the freedom to meet and worship together. He is building His kingdom in Israel.
