My story:
“I have always been a person of faith, but I did not connect with rabbinic Judaism — I didn’t find answers there. I prayed according to a pre-written text and I didn’t feel that I was really engaging with God. I didn’t feel him. I asked myself, if God loves me, why are there so many rituals and prohibitions required? I felt it wasn’t true.
Then one day I opened the New Testament and was swallowed inside. There I found the loving and compassionate God. I discovered it made a lot of sense, and that this is where the truth lies.
I’m definitely on the way to the Messiah.”
What to know
- While Rabbinic Judaism gives guidance on the practical application of the Law, it often leaves people spiritually empty. The personal connection with God isn’t there because sin is still in the way. Only the Messiah can take away our sin and reconcile us to the Father.
- The New Testament cannot be easily bought in Israel: most bookshops won’t carry it. You can get all sorts of books on other religions and New Age mysticism, but not the New Testament. Now our popular NT application has made it easy for Israelis to read it for themselves.
- Jewish prayers and blessings are set texts, full of a lot of biblical ideas and promises, and beautiful words. However most Jewish people find prayer straight from the heart to God strange and difficult at first.
How to Pray
- Please pray for those experiencing the emptiness of rule-based religion to start searching for the truth.
- Pray for many more to start searching for the New Testament — and reading it!
- Pray that God would guide many to the truth, and draw them to Himself.
- Pray for our team who are responding to all the messages we get from Israelis on their way to faith: for wisdom, guidance, inspiration, and love.
