Take action in PRayer for Israel

Israel is experiencing a powerful SPIRITUAL AWAKENING. More than ever we need prayers of the saints for the work ahead!

In our years of ministry we have met many around the world who have a heart to pray for Israel, but many lack the understanding and relevant information on HOW to pray.

Just as Yeshua (Jesus) instructed His disciples in Matthew 9:38, we’re to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send workers, we’re to pray that His Holy Spirit opens hearts of our Arab and Jewish brothers to the Gospel, and we’re to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Our goal is to build up a prayer network of friends around the world who are taking up that task of prayer.

That’s why we’ve curated a collection of podcasts, testimonies, articles and a 31-day prayer guide to help you pray and lead prayer groups to fuel this Gospel awakening in Israel.

Every day our team chats with Israeli seekers and new believers who are reaching out to us online.

We’ve edited their stories to maintain their privacy and safety, and posted them here for our prayer team around the world to gain insight into their journey and so you can better know how to pray for them.

Most of these new believers are the only believers in their community, and even though we can’t include their names, God knows as you pray for each testimony.

Please take a moment to read their stories, and pray that God will keep and strengthen their faith!

In these days of promise, we’re seeing eyes opened and miraculous breakthroughs for the Gospel!

But with these miracles comes persecution, as both Messianic Jews and Arab Christians are attacked on every front when they follow the Gospel of Peace. The One For Israel team also faces threat as we proclaim the Good News.

This battle is too intense to face alone, so our vision is to inspire and equip intercessors and prayer groups around the world to pray as ONE for Israel’s awakening and protection.

We’ve created a prayer pack to help you lead a prayer group in your neighborhood or church, so please contact our team to request yours today!

Five Reasons to Pray for Israel

Many people are aware of the instruction in Psalm 122 to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem”. If the Bible tells us to do something, it’s a good idea to do it! But more than that, the Psalm is bursting with blessings for those who care about God’s land, God’s city and God’s people. Often when there is a command in the Bible there is an accompanying promise. In this case, we are promised “shalom”. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem—May those who love you be at peace!” (Psalm 122:6). We also see the example of the Apostle Paul who prayed for his people, but what was the focus of his prayers? Salvation! “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for Israel is for their salvation” (Romans 10:1). So not only does the Bible command us to pray but we are also given a good example to follow and a promise to believe as we do so.

It delights God’s heart when we join Him in His passions, plans and purposes. God has great plans for His people, Israel, which affect the whole world. When He called Abraham, Isaac and Jacob into covenant with Himself, He promised them a land but also that through them would come the Seed – the Messiah – and that through them all the nations of the earth would be blessed. In doing so, God promised that all those who bless the nation of Israel will in turn be blessed: “My heart’s desire is to make you into a great nation, to bless you, to make your name great so that you may be a blessing. My desire is to bless those who bless you, but whoever curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed” (Genesis 12:2-3). Blessings all round! And you are invited to join in.

One For IsraelSince Gentile believers are not only linked with Israel but are actually grafted into the root, it makes sense to pray for the tree you’re grafted into! The Apostle Paul explains: “If the firstfruit is holy, so is the whole batch of dough; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off and you—being a wild olive—were grafted in among them and became a partaker of the root of the olive tree with its richness, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, it is not you who support the root but the root supports you” (Romans 11:16-18). Far from the arrogance or superiority which some exhibit towards Israel, Paul instructs Gentile disciples to recognize this picture of the olive tree. Love and prayer for God’s chosen nation is a way of expressing appreciation for the root which supports you.

JerusalemGod has made Israel the center of the world: Thus says Adonai Elohim: “This is Jerusalem! I have set her in the midst of the nations, with countries all around her” (Ezekiel 5:5). In fact, in Ezekiel 38:12, God refers to Israel as “Tabor haAretz” the bellybutton of the world! God’s concern is for all the nations of the earth, but He uses Israel as a vessel through which to work. It is through Israel that the Bible was delivered to the nations, and also the Messiah. God also uses Israel as an illustration to the world about His dealings with mankind, and the unfolding story has not finished. Israel continues to be a spiritual center of significance, and God’s dealings with Israel flow out to the whole earth. Your prayers for Israel consequently affect the whole earth.

God has laid out His plan of redemption spanning from Genesis to Revelation. Keeping an eye on prophecies coming to pass in the Middle East also helps orient us as to where we are in God’s unveiling story. Praying into God’s stated purposes for Israel is to keep in step with His program. We have seen tremendous strides forward last century as Israel was re-formed after 2000 years of exile and Jerusalem was miraculously back in the hands of the Jewish people. Jesus said “Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (Luke 21:23-25) and Paul reiterates this in Romans 11, saying that a partial hardening has come upon Israel but only until the end of the time of the Gentiles. We are promised that ultimately “All Israel will be saved” and the prophet Zechariah paints the extraordinary picture for us of what that will look like in the last few chapters of his book. Similarly, the last few chapters of Isaiah also speak of a remarkable future for Israel and the world when the Messiah comes to rule and reign, giving us a glorious hope and a vision to pray into. To pray for Israel in the light of prophetic scripture is to align with God’s purposes on the earth.

Need More prayer for Israel Insight?

Here’s a few prayer points below.

The Gospel in Israel

“And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God.” Luke 1:16

We need prayer for this great awakening!

For over 2000 years Yeshua (Jesus) was the best kept secret amongst the Jewish people, however, today our Gospel videos in Hebrew have had over 68 Million views in Israel alone!

Click on each item below to learn how you can pray:

This awakening is not in the local square but online, as thousands of Israelis are responding to our Gospel outreach. Our websites and social media platforms are a destination for seekers all over Israel, packed with testimonies, apologetics videos answering atheists and rabbinic objections to Jesus, and many more faith-related topics. In these videos, we defend our faith with apologetics and challenge non-believers to investigate and reconsider their views about Jesus.

Did you know that over 6,000 Israelis a month search Google for Jesus?  That’s more google searches than any other religion or religious figure in Israel!  To compare, the word rabbi in any search only receives 1/3 of the search queries as those searching for our Messiah!  Please pray for God to guide people in their internet searches to find the Messiah.

Last year, our outreach videos in Hebrew received 16.9 million views! Many that we reach with our videos write us that they’ve been binge watching our videos about Yeshua. Pray for more binge watching of the Gospel!

About half of Israelis are secular – they may not be observant but will still celebrate the Jewish holidays, just as non-believers celebrate Christmas in the West. Some are atheist, some agnostic, and others are attracted to New Age spirituality. However, everyone sometimes wonders about life’s big questions. Please pray for secular Israelis to hunger and thirst for truth – and to find it! Pray for God to bring those who are seeking in contact with believers.
About a quarter of Israel’s Jewish population are Orthodox, ranging from the extremely strict ultra-orthodox to the more relaxed and traditional expressions of religious Judaism. For most in this bracket, Jewish identity has become even more important than the truth, and the idea of accepting Jesus is an unthinkable betrayal. However, we are seeing more and more choosing to put their faith in Jesus as the Messiah among the Orthodox community.
Our media team needs prayer for inspiration and protection. Some on our team have had bricks thrown through their windows and had to move multiple times because of the death threats we receive. Also pray for more Israelis whose lives have been transformed to come and share their story of salvation publicly, this also comes at a high risk to those who share. We’re constantly developing new resources and teachings in Hebrew, please pray for God’s inspiration as we write and shoot these projects.
Did you know half of the seekers we chat with each week are from the Ultra Orthodox communities? In some sects having a smartphone is prohibited but they still find ways to find us online. Online media based outreach is extremely effective in these areas, as it can enter neighborhoods that we could otherwise never enter!

Discipleship in Israel

And when they heard it they began glorifying God; and they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law.” Acts 21:20
The awakening in Israel is like an iceberg, what we see is just the tip. There’s a large group of seekers under the water, and it’s our passion to engage them and bridge the gap into discipleship and spiritual growth!
It’s common for us to receive messages from new believers who have believed for years but were afraid to share their faith with even their husband or wife. Our online discipleship course is designed to bridge the gap into discipleship and spiritual growth, Please pray for these new seekers to start their journey and contact our team today!
It’s not easy for these new believers to take their first steps into community life, most are gripped with the fear of being found out. An Orthodox friend of mine used to travel to another city and disguise himself before showing up at a home fellowship for fear of being discovered by his community. Some have been abducted by their family and sent to “deprogrammers” when their family discovered their faith.
From Orthodox seekers to underage believers, even to those who live in a town or moshav without a local fellowship, it’s not easy to gather for most new believers. We’ve heard from many underage believers who have been rejected from attending a local fellowship because Israeli law dictates that anyone under 18 must receive both parent’s written permission to attend a local congregation. Online discipleship material and congregations are the only option for many who aren’t able to attend in person.
Sometimes it’s wise to be circumspect about following Jesus, but sometimes hiding our faith can be a matter of fear rather than wisdom. Please pray for new believers to know when to speak up and when to stay silent, when to hold back, and when to be bold. Pray that their faith grows in depth and passion whatever situation they are in.
Even in freer western countries, young adults often fall away when they experience the freedom of leaving home. Whether they’re in university or the army, please support Israeli young adults in prayer, that they would not falter. Pray that God would be very real to them in their personal lives, and that they would be able to work through doubts and difficulties without getting shipwrecked.

Salvation for Arab Israelis & the Middle East

“In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.” Isaiah 19:24-25
God is bringing awakening to All ISRAEL, and our outreach in Arabic needs your prayers as we connect with seekers in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank and throughout the Middle East.
It’s dangerous to be seen even contemplating Jesus in some places – fear and intimidation keep many away. But for some, their curiosity cannot be stopped. Please pray for protection for those trying to find out about Jesus and also for courage.
Please pray for those who are contacting believers like us to see that Jesus is the Pearl of Great Price, worth everything that we have. Pray that many would be ready to start following Jesus.
There have been some very positive steps toward unity between Jewish and Arab believers here in Israel, but many in the Palestinian territories remain disconnected from their Arab brothers and sisters here. Please pray for God to work in hearts to bring about more unity and reconciliation.
We receive much harassment and abuse for the work we are doing – sometimes even threats of violence. Please pray for our protection: from physical harm, from spiritual attack, and for our relationships and families. Pray also for our team as we walk with God, that we would never lose our passion for Him – for protection of our spiritual lives.

Training Workers for the Harvest

“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38
It’s a sobering responsibility to be teaching those who will be teachers in the land of Israel. We also have to bridge the gap between Arab and Jewish, conservative and charismatic students with a wide theological basis and bring unity and a balanced teaching to serve the congregations of Israel. Pray for our faculty to maintain a fresh and vital walk with the Lord and inspiration from God’s word and the Spirit of God as they teach. Pray for God’s direction, inspiration and wisdom as we not only teach but develop curriculum in Hebrew for future generations.
Israeli students come from all over the country to study with us. Many are also juggling jobs and family. Please lift up all who are studying with us – for help with all they need to excel in their studies. Pray they will be well-equipped to be effective workers in God’s kingdom.
For much of Israel’s history, full-time ministry has been frowned upon by believers. It is good to be salt and light in the marketplace, but slowly more are starting to accept that God still has His “Levites”, called to serve full time. Please pray for God to call more workers, and that those who are called would respond!
Our Bible College has the great privilege of being a hub that connects believers in Israel, from all kinds of backgrounds. Many Jewish and Arab pastors come to study with us and make important connections with one another that continue after their studies. Pray that this unity continues to flourish and flow out to the congregations around Israel.
Looking at the big picture of the Body of Messiah in Israel, we see women of influence being catalysts for bringing revival and growth to their communities. Many women have been serving in administrative, teaching, serving, and counseling roles for a long time in Israel without much training or support.

The Church in Israel

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46-47
The believers in Israel need encouragement and boldness to share their faith especially in a culture of persecution that rejects their faith. We hear amazing stories of Israelis, bold in faith, that share with their co-workers and friends, but the majority need more boldness to shine their light to those around them. “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.” Luke 8:16
Pray for the body of Israel to grow deeper in the Word, Faith and Love. Personal discipleship isn’t just a great need for new believers but as well our challenge is to help develop the spiritual maturity of the Body in Israel. Our website Messianic.co.il and facebook groups help provoke challenging conversations and teachings in the faith.
From school to their service in the IDF, the pressure on young Israelis is immense. Pray for them to stand firm, step into discipleship and be bold in their faith. Our Young adult evenings we host bring together hundreds of young people from all over Israel, pray that these events will continue to grow and that God will bless the ministry to our young adults in Israel.
Pray not just for unity between various congregations but that inside each local congregation that we would be unified in the Gospel and personal discipleship to grow in our faith. “being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:3

Israel’s Defense & Security

“For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
Deuteronomy 20:4
4 out of 10 Messianic IDF Soldiers walk away from their faith after serving in the IDF. Our soldier’s ministry exists to turn back that tide, from falling away to falling more in Love with God during their service.
SERVING IN THE IDF IS NOT EASY. It comes with a host of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual challenges that can severely test and even break a person. After high school, almost all Israelis have to do two or three years of army service, which often means being isolated as a believer in some of the most formative years of life. There is a great need for support and encouragement of our soldiers. So we developed a ministry specifically dedicated to meeting the spiritual needs of our soldiers. There are hundreds of Israeli soldiers who love Jesus serving in the IDF, but it is extremely challenging – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
The ramifications of decisions can be felt for generations for good or for bad. Please pray for those in positions of responsibility to have all the information they need to make good decisions, and also for wisdom to know what is right.
Israel has been rescued from annihilation several times over, but please keep praying for protection over all our soldiers and those responsible for them as they seek to protect civilians. Pray too for their hearts as they encounter many challenging experiences – that they would not become hardened or compromised by hatred, but would remain professional and upright.
God has His people in the West Bank, both Palestinian believers and those who have come to serve from other nations. There are others who may not know Jesus who are also working towards peace. Please lift these people up asking for wisdom, direction and guidance, that they would have God’s help as they serve.
Currently there are around 400 believers in the army, many of whom are the only one in their unit. Pray that God would strengthen them in their faith, and give them both comfort and courage so that they can be salt and light to those around them.

Pro Life Israel

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:13-16
9% OF PREGNANCIES IN ISRAEL END IN ABORTION, that’s over 40,000 lives lost per year.
ONE FOR ISRAEL is helping to prevent abortion by supporting women who choose to keep their babies. Many contemplating abortion will do so because they are in insecure situations relationally or financially. We undertake to provide basic necessities and also provide care and support for those who say yes to life. Please back these women and their children up in prayer, that God would provide for their needs – financially, practically, emotionally and spiritually.
We don’t just deliver aid to at risk mothers, but we pray for them, listen to their stories, and share the Hope of the Gospel with them. Pray for our case workers and the pro life case workers in Israel to have grace and open doors to share the Gospel. Many of these women that we’ve ministered to come to faith, pray for their next steps into discipleship and spiritual growth.
The fatherlessness epidemic that affects so many countries is a reality here too in Israel. Please pray for women who are trying to raise children and provide for their families single-handedly. Pray for wisdom, support, and for God to be their ever present help.

The Poor & Needy of Israel

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46-47
Israel is one of the most expensive countries in the world, with an extremely high cost of living, and many struggle to make ends meet. Pray that we are able to help those who really need it, and that they would feel cared for as we serve them.
Many Holocaust survivors in Israel live in poverty and have no family around to help them, sometimes having to choose between food and medication. Pray that as we take regular care and food packages, they would have a glimpse of God’s love for them. Pray that God would show His mercy to them by meeting their needs practically and spiritually.

Many Israelis have had to evacuate and leave the towns they once worked, given the conflict. Pray for new enterprise, for rapid job creation, and for God’s help for those who are struggling with the crisis.

The Government of Israel in Israel

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Tim 2:1-2
Israel’s government can change and flex frequently but please pray for whoever is in a position of power today – for a sharp conscience, for wisdom, for righteousness and integrity.
We know that ultimately God is sovereign, but let’s pray that God steers the development of coalitions to be shaped according to His will. Pray for righteousness, justice, and people with a true heart to serve Israel.
Israel’s Knesset is a relatively wild and colorful institution, which can be good natured at times and at others dangerously hostile. Please pray for the very different factions representing different interests in Israeli society at this time – pray for peaceful discussions and positive communication so our politicians work together constructively.
Whether right or left wing, almost all of the Jewish politicians are united in their disapproval of Messianic believers in Israel. Please pray that God would raise up leaders who would stand up for the rights of minorities like Messianic Jews and Evangelical Arabs at the political level.
